Delivery

Service

Delivery is offered to addresses in the United Kingdom only. Please call if you wish to have a delivery made to a foreign country.

We also offer a click and collect service which allows you to buy online and collect in our store.

Most products are delivered either by courier or by post (Royal Mail), depending on their size and value. You will be notified which delivery method we will use during the order process or via email.

A product may be indicated as ‘local delivery only’ due to its size, weight or fragile nature.

UK Mainland destinations

Goods will normally be delivered by Courier or post within 3-5 business days. Items may be delivered by our own delivery van where possible and local to our store. Our local deliveries are made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We will always endeavour to arrange delivery sooner within 2-3 working days.

Gift Cards and very light packages (e.g. seeds) will be sent by the Royal Mail Recorded Delivery Signed For service. These items will be delivered as per Royal Mail terms and conditions but would normally be next day.

Delivery Charges

Standard UK delivery is FREE on all orders over £150.

Prices (UK Mainland)

  • Small light packages that can be classed as letters (less than 250g), including Gift Cards and seeds, will be sent Royal Mail Recorded Delivery Signed For - £2.50 for 1-5 items and £5.00 for over 5 items.
  • Standards delivery £4.99
  • Express (next day) - £6.99
  • Heavy, bulky - £9.99
  • Items that are too heavy, bulky to be delivered by Royal Mail / Courier e.g.some furniture, compost, Calor, some stone ornaments etc will be local delivery only - £8.00

Scottish Highlands, Scottish Islands, Isle of Man, Channel Islands

There may be a surcharge for orders on top of our standard delivery charges

Delivery charges and options will be clearly displayed during the checkout process. We reserve the right to apply delivery charges or cancel orders where delivery cannot be arranged. We will always contact you in the unlikely event this occurs to discuss the options.

Returns (please check returns policy for full details)

Returns can be made via:

  • Courier: Please call us on 01375 372195 or email orders@smithsorchardgardencentre.com to arrange your return. Please include or have the following details ready: order number, stock number, the reason for the return and whether you would like a refund or a replacement. We will then be able to provide you with the correct information for returning the product.
  • In Store: at Smiths Orchard Garden Centre, 70 Chadwell Road, Grays, Essex RM17 5SY. Bring your delivery note or order confirmation and the product you wish to return or exchange to the store where our team will help you.

Conditions of Delivery

Royal Mail Signed for deliveries require a signature on delivery. However, we do not normally send goods via courier requiring signature as this can often complicate delivery. If you particularly require a signature on delivery then please contact us before or as soon as you make an order with us and we will do our best to help.

Should you be out at a time of delivery a card should be left to advise that an attempt was made and give you contact details to rearrange delivery. If delivery cannot be made within a few attempts a further delivery charge may be incurred.
